Madeline Brice

Madeline Brice is a Kansas City–based multidisciplinary queer visual artist and curator whose work drifts through nostalgia, emotional residue, and material uncertainty. Her practice inhabits a dreamlike register—images feel remembered rather than witnessed, suspended between intimacy and unease. Brice resists clarity and spectacle, allowing surfaces to soften, fracture, and hold traces of lived experience. Nostalgia in her work is unstable and unresolved, functioning less as comfort than as a site of quiet tension and psychological recall.

Parallel to her studio practice, Brice operates as an active community organizer and co-curator of Curiouser + Curiouser, an artist-run space in Kansas City, Kansas. She earned a BFA in Painting and a BA in Art History from Missouri State University and has exhibited nationally in solo and juried group exhibitions, most recently at the MDW Fair at Mana Contemporary. Brice was featured as an emerging artist to know in Made in Bed magazine by Sotheby's Institute of Art and is a recipient of a Charlotte Street Foundation Rocket Grant. Her work exists across private collections, in the permanent collection of Hotel Vandivort, and in public circulation through the Materfamilia beer label for Mother's Brewing Company.
