South Korea) is a Seoul-based contemporary painter whose work probes the unsettling overlap between technology, surveillance, and the human subconscious. Working primarily in oil and acrylic, he treats his own interiority as raw material - turning private thought and behaviour into a kind of dataset to be examined

In his 2024 solo exhibition Koyaanisqatsi at YK Presents, Seoul, Kang put his own digital habits on display - Pinterest scrolling, Google image results - casting the viewer in the role of the algorithm and offering an unusually direct view into the artist's mind. Borrowing its title from the Hopi word for "life out of balance," the series drew parallels between the physical architecture of ant colonies and the metaphysical grid of the image search, reflecting on how data-driven surveillance now reaches into even the unconscious mind.

His practice asks viewers to confront their own passive participation in systems of monitoring, where personal interest is quietly translated into commodity and identity is flattened into a set of predictive behaviours. Kang has exhibited widely across South Korea, including shows in Seoul, Busan, Pohang, and Jeonju.
