Jacob crafts thought-provoking and rib-tickling works inspired by everyday life and social media. Even when delving into political themes, Painterboi infuses his work with shock, humour and a light-hearted perspective, reminding us to find joy in life’s complexities.
From placing Winnie the Pooh in the crosshairs of a hunter’s rifle to staging intense pub debates over New Balance versus Nike, Painterboi’s art captures universal themes that resonate with everyone.
“I pride myself on making work my mum wouldn’t let anywhere near her walls. As much as I love looking for poetry in the mundane, my true joy lies in blindsiding expectations with a well-timed two-foot tackle. Conflict is my muse. It’s where I go to find inspiration for pretty much all of my work.
My aim is to mix fun and discomfort together until the laughs get as dark as the shadows. Every piece I make is an invitation to go headfirst into the weirdness dressed with nothing but a generous dose of skepticism and a decent sense of humor.”
